How to write articles for pay

In the search for an internet home business that is legitimate and well-paying, article submission is one solution that seems to work well for many people. Article submission in the traditional sense has usually been restricted to writing for magazines or newspapers. Some people have found that this type of article submission works well for them, and the freelance writing from home is an excellent way to make some spare money on the side. However, with the advance of the internet, there are plenty of companies and individuals who need content for their websites. This is an excellent stroke of luck for those who are a little less talented in the area of writing, but are still interested in article submission.

Article submission is now growing in popularity through the use of websites that provide content for other websites. Those who put up websites, especially business websites, are not always talented writers. Therefore, they are often looking for writers who are interested in article submission. Those who are willing to write for article submission can then write about whatever content the website owner would like to see on his or her website.

Many times this is done through a website that brings both those interested in article submission and those needing website content together. Usually, the people writing content will turn their article submission over to a website for review. If the article submission review is positive, the content website will usually accept the article submission and put it up on the site. Then, those interested in buying the article will purchase it from the website. Normally, the content website pays the authors who sent in an article submission, while taking some type of commission.

Article submission can be a good way to make money if you are good with words and enjoy writing. However, it is important to note that getting into article submission means you will need to have good grammar and sentence structure skills. Additionally, most article submission sites make you proofread your own material. It is recommended that anyone interested in article submission research what is involved before making any commitments.

Ebook the content recycler

One of the key ways netrepreneurs are optimizing their websites is through the use of targeted articles that use specific keywords or phrases that assist in the positive advancement of the site’s rankings with established search engines.

Many of the articles on your website may change from time to time. The information that was provided was informative, but you’ve moved on to other targeted keywords as part of an overall marketing strategy utilizing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques.

Because there are not enough hours in the day many online marketers will bring a freelance writer alongside to assist in the development of relevant information in a style that fits the purpose and objectives of the website.

If this describes you it is important that you specify the need for the ownership of full rights to the work. It may cost a little more, but if you don’t receive these rights from the author you may be restricted in how you use the material.

In essence, when a writer surrenders full right, the provided work becomes your property upon payment. You can alter the content and even assign your own name to the work when you own full rights. This may be important in keeping the end result not only to your satisfaction, but exclusive to your site.

If you do not receive full rights to the work, it is possible the writer you hired could resell the exact piece to another client.

The primary reason I bring all these issues to your attention is that when you own fill rights you can compile the work you’ve already paid for into an eBook either for sale or as a gift to your clients.

As you retire articles from your archives they can be reassembled in an eBook format and given a new life.

Many customers will be happy to pay for the information simply because it is all located in one place in a comprehensive and structured manner.

Internet marketing has become much ado about content. Solid information creates trust and frankly, it sells. Understanding the possibilities of the articles you either personally develop or purchase from a freelance writer is an important means of creating another sales tool that has proven remarkably successful.

If a customer discovers the information you provide is trustworthy, works and saves them time you are likely to see that customer drop by again and possibly tell others about the level of service they received. Word of mouth advertising should never be understated.

Develop a file in your word processor where you keep the articles that have been on your website. They may do a world of good in a newly packaged eBook format.

Marketing your business for sale in california

Do you have a business for sale in California and you aren’t sure if you are marketing it properly? As you probably know, marketing can either make or break you when it comes to selling residential real estate. If you aren’t sure that you are marketing properly than you should definitely seek some professional help.

If you have just placed your company on the market it’s not too late. This is a good time to evaluate your marketing plan and ensure that you have all of your bases covered. If you aren’t sure if all of your bases are covered that this would be a good time to call in some help and see if you are maximizing your marketing efforts. If your business for sale in California has been on the market for quite some time and you just aren’t getting the interest or offers that you had hoped for, than you need to look at what is wrong. If you are sure that it isn’t the company than you need to look at how well your marketing plan is working. If you are at a loss it is time to call in a professional.

You may be wondering exactly what type of professional you call in to help you with this sort of thing. The answer would be a broker. A broker can help you determine the value of your company and then you can branch out and figure out who to market, and perhaps more importantly, who to market to. This is knowledge that comes with experience, and if this is not what you do for a living you might not be able to market appropriately so that you are able to sell your company is a reasonable amount of time.

When you work with a broker when marketing your business for sale in California you will find that they have a lot of great resources to turn to that you might not have access to. Many brokers have a network of buyers and sellers, which may make it very simple for you to sell. If this is not the case then your broker will at least work to get your company listed in many different listings that are seen by hundreds, if not thousands, of people every day! This is good news!

Finding a broker isn’t difficult; you just need to be sure that you are dealing with someone who has the experience and the resources that will benefit you. This will include someone who is familiar with the market where your company is as well as knowledge of what the market values may be in the area. You want to work with a broker that will listen to you and your needs and simply help you market your business for sale in California to the best of your ability. For this sort of help you may want to check out Hughes Properties, which you can visit at hughesproperties. com as they have been able to help many business owners buy and sell with great success.

How to perfect your ads before they break the bank

The two things I am most frequently asked about are how to get more advertising for your dollar (or pound in my case) and how to deliver copy that really works. So that is what this article will be about.

Many people, when asked their opinion on the best ways to advertise will tell you that “In this game you only get what you pay for.” And I some ways that’s true, however f. ree advertising definitely has it’s place and serves more than one purpose.

They say that anything worth having is worth working for and when it comes to f. ree advertising methods you may have to be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort before you start to see solid results. And in truth if the f. ree methods worked as well as paid methods then there wouldn’t be any need for anything else.

On the other hand paid methods require you to take a rather large leap of faith that they can actually deliver what is promised and when you’re first starting out with a smaller budget sometimes the paid methods just have to wait for a couple of weeks.

One of the best methods I have found is to actually combine the two.

How? Well we all know how important it is to monitor our results with ad tracking and that once we have found a system that works we should use it to it’s fullest potential. Well unless you have a large budget to begin with it can be quit difficult to get a large enough feedback from a wide enough group for you to be able to find out which of your campaigns really works and which don’t.

That’s where programmes like Traffic Swarm and other traffic exchanges can help.

First of all what is ‘Traffic’ and why would you want a swarm of it?

If you’re new to the net ‘Traffic’ is one the words you will be hearing a lot of and need to become familiar with. It simply refers to the volume of people that you have visiting your site, and clearly to make real progress online you need to generate good quality, high volume traffic.

There are lots of traffic exchange programmes available online where you generate credits by viewing other people’s ads those credits will then in turn relate to exactly how many times your own ad is displayed to other members. You need to take some time and decide which of the many systems is right for you.

As a f. ree member of Traffic Swarm you can display up to 10 ads at a time which means that not only do you have a whole market available to you to test your ad copy on to before spending a penny on paid methods; but that you have got the ability to compare and contrast which of your ads works hardest for you.

The ads that you place are like classified ads that get shown to TS members in groups of 8, people then just click on an ad that appeals to them and they are instantly redirected to your site.

All you then need to do is track each of your ads so you can tell at a glance just which of your campaigns are achieving a high response rate and which ones you may need to tweak or drop altogether.

Once you have used a system like that to develop your own killer ad you can then confidently use that headline or body in larger scale paid advertising methods.

Truck loads of people use traffic exchange programmes on a daily basis as they are one of the most well known and successful traffic generating systems available. So before you spend big, spend some time tweaking your own ads and find out what really works.

Happy Marketing

Seo techniques increasing page rank through web directories

When a typical individual surfs the internet, he or she will more than likely use a search engine like Google or Yahoo! Search to proceed with the search for specific information. After a result is returned by the search engine, this typical individual is likely going to click the link at the top of the page or at least a link found on the first page. The awareness of this leads many web masters to hire search engine optimization professionals to increase their page rank. A higher page rank means more web traffic for a web site.

--- Page rank and search engine algorithms ---

A high page rank is attained if the search engine finds the web site relevant to the specific keyword query made by a web surfer, and search engines have certain criteria for ranking the millions of web sites in their indexes. To be on top of the results page or to have a high page rank therefore, a web site must fulfill the criteria set out by the search engines. Search engine optimization professionals make a study of the search engine’s search algorithms and try to incorporate these algorithms into a web site’s pages.

--- Link popularity as a criterion for search engine ranking ---

One important criterion that search engines use to rank the pages in their indexes is link popularity. The logic lies in the supposition that the more other relevant sites link back to a web site, the more significant its content would be to the individual initiating the query. Thus, the higher the link popularity of a web site is, the higher the web site’s page rank deserves to be.

Link popularity is measured by the volume and quality of one-way links to a web site. A web site attains link popularity when it has many links from other web sites that are related to it. If a web master wishes to increase web site’s link popularity, he or she should solicit one-way links from other web sites, and it is better if the web master solicits these links from web sites that are directly related to his or her web site content. Thus, a web master of a travel web site is well advised if he or she seeks one-way links from other travel web sites or other sites that offer travel information. Another means to increase link popularity would be one-way links from web directories.

--- Web directories ---

Web directories are usually industry specific. They are an organized collection of links to web sites that belong in the same field. There are web directories for adult dating sites, there are web directories for travel-related sites and so on and so forth. Web directories also usually have sub directories. The links are typically classified into specific fields within a comprehensive industry; and more often than not, there are sub-categories for states, cities, and/or zip codes.

Web directories are a popular means of obtaining one-way links, and links that come from web directories carry much weight in link popularity, and thus, page ranking.

--- Submitting to web directories ---

To maximize the impact of web directory listings to page rank, the web master must choose the web directory carefully. The bigger and the more reputable the web directory is, the higher is the impact of a listing on page rank. It is also important to ensure that the link is submitted under the most appropriate heading or category of the web directory. Search engines look at the company your link keeps, so the more relevant the links around you in the directory are, the higher your page rank becomes.

Business advertising

Advertising is an investment in your business and is similar to other investments that are designed to improve and expand your business. The return you receive depends on the planning and thought that precede the actual commitment and expenditure of advertising dollars. By first developing an effective advertising plan, you increase the likelihood of a positive return on your advertising investment, regardless of the amount of money you spend.

Four Basic Questions

The basic premise of an advertising plan requires you to thoroughly analyze the answers to key questions before you can make effective advertising decisions. There are four key questions to ask yourself:

1. What do I want my advertising to accomplish?

2. Who should my advertising speak to?

3. What should my advertising say?

4. What advertising medium should I use?

In a specific business situation, each question has any number of potential answers. As you think about each question, do not accept any answer until you have considered and explored the full range of possibilities.

What Do I Want My Advertising To Accomplish?

The first step in developing your advertising plan is to specify your advertising goals. Be as precise as you can as to why you are advertising and what you want to achieve. Everyone wants advertising to increase business, but for your advertising plan to work, it requires you to be more precise. Some possible goals for your advertising are:

• To increase awareness of your business.

• To attract competitors’ customers.

• To increase the likelihood of keeping current customers and developing their loyalty.

• To generate immediate sales or sales leads.

It is possible that you may want your advertising to achieve all of these goals plus some others. What is important is that you prioritize your goals. Advertising works best when it is developed to meet one specific goal at a time.

Who Should My Advertising Speak To?

Once you determine your advertising goals, you can then select the target audience for your message. Keep in mind that advertising that tries to reach “everyone” rarely succeeds. Successful advertising is written with a specific customer in mind. Try to picture the person you must reach in order to achieve your advertising goals. Try to describe your target consumers in each of the following:

• Demographics: such as gender, age, income, location of residence or business, etc.

• Behaviors: such as current awareness of your business; the products, services or vendors they currently use; loyalty to either you or your competitor’s business, etc.

• Needs or desires: such as what benefits consumers look for, the basis on which they will decide whether to use your product or service, how your business can fulfill those needs, etc.

What Should My Advertising Say?

Once you know who your target audience is and what they are looking for in terms of the product or service you offer, you can decide what your advertising will say. Advertising should always be written to communicate a message that will be seen as important by your target customer. Your advertising should clearly and convincingly “speak” to your target audience, explaining the important benefits your product or service offers. In deciding how to discuss the major benefits of your product or service in your advertising, keep “AIDA” in mind: attract Attention, hold Interest, arouse Desire and motivate Action.

Where Should I Place My Advertising?

Every month, new advertising options become available. Beyond “traditional” media you can place ads in airports, on ski lifts and on television monitors in the front of grocery carts. Where you place your advertising should be guided by a simple principle: Go where your target audience will have the highest likelihood of seeing or hearing it. Many advertising media work well to reach a diverse range of target consumers. There is no single medium that is inherently good or bad. In fact, a good medium for one product or service may be a poor medium for another. As you consider media choices, look for one that fits your advertising goals, reaches your target efficiently and cost effectively and is within your advertising budget.

Uk business embrace customer service training

In today's competitive markets, it is often the quality of customer service that determines the winners and losers.

'Customer service training can be the magic ingredient that makes a business or organisation stand out from the crowd.' says Mike Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board and Chair of the North West Tourism Sector Skills and Productivity Alliance for Tourism in the North West.

'Great customer service training makes all the difference when it comes to winning repeat business, and acts as a magnet to quality staff as well as improving staff retention rates.'

Since launch in 1993, over 300,000 people throughout the UK have taken part in Welcome to Excellence - the largest customer service training programme in the UK and the only one recommended by the The Regional Tourist Board Partnerships Ltd.

Clients range from tiny B&Bs to some of the biggest names in tourism and leisure such as Bourne Leisure, De Vere, English Heritage and the new Wembley Arena.

In the North West, Welcome to Excellence has been embraced by thousands of businesses large and small, with more than 2000 people being trained each year.

Mike Wilkinson says 'Welcome to Excellence currently offers a series of seven interactive one day courses, all of which are frequently updated to reflect changing conditions and legislation.

'Welcome Host' is perhaps the most famous of the seven courses, but the Welcome to Excellence programme also includes much more for staff at every level. For example, 'Welcome All' focuses on how to provide a top class welcome to people with disabilities, 'Welcome International' provides an insight into how to deal with people from other cultures and 'Welcome Management' is designed especially for managers, showing how to develop a business-wide customer service strategy.

'Welcome to Excellence is already widely regarded as the gold standard by the tourism, leisure and hospitality sectors, but we are now seeing it being increasingly sought after by other businesses and organisations for which customer service is critical such as local authorities, transport operators and retail outlets.'

'Fantastic!' is how Jackie Mottershead of Oswaldwhistle Mills, describes the impact of Welcome to Excellence on the shopping village near Blackburn, which is the third biggest tourist attraction in Lancashire.

Oswaldwhistle Mills employs 60 staff of its own, all of whom took part in Welcome Host training, in addition to 70 staff employed by concessionary retail outlets based in the shopping village.

'I was amazed and thrilled by the scale of the impact' says Jackie. 'The staff had a huge improvement in motivation and our sales increased by 20 per cent in the six months following the training. Welcome to Excellence was certainly the biggest single factor in this achievement.'

Mike Williamson comments 'It's always exciting to see evidence of the huge difference that great customer service training can make.'

The Imperial War Museum North is an award winning building created by world famous architect Daniel Libeskind in a stunning waterfront location in Manchester. Danielle Hird, Volunteer Coordinator at the Museum, was determined that the quality of customer service should be as impressive as the design of the building. She turned to Welcome to Excellence to raise standard in customer service amongst the front of house volunteers on whom the Museum depends. Over the last two years, more than 70 volunteers have benefited from both the 'Welcome Host' and 'Welcome All' training courses.

Danielle says 'We chose Welcome to Excellence because it allows volunteers to gain an accredited customer service certificate.

'The Welcome to Excellence courses are great. They help increase the volunteers' awareness and understanding of the vital importance of their role. For many, it is also a real confidence boost and shows them how to deal with tricky customer situations. It also helps inspire them to make the most of their role and really try to improve the customer experience. Importantly, our customers really notice the difference. We get very positive comments about the quality of customer service at the Museum. The culture of the organization has stepped up a gear - customer service is now something that all staff and volunteers see as central to what we provide'

This is a viewpoint shared by Charles Quinn, Visitor Services Officer at Grosvenor Museum in Chester, which has made extensive use of the Welcome to Excellence programme.

Charles says 'Local authority services such as ours are constantly striving to deliver best value and Welcome to Excellence has been extremely useful in helping us maintain high levels of customer service. Our staff invariably return from the courses more positive and motivated, with a fresh perspective on the importance of their role. This makes all the difference to the quality of the customer experience.'

Welcome to Excellence training is available throughout the year at a number of local venues. However, another option is to train your own in-house Welcome to Excellence trainer. This was the route preferred by Centre Island, an independent Liverpool based hotel group comprising two Crowne Plaza hotels, four Holiday Inns, two Express by Holiday Inns and a boutique hotel, 62 Castle St.

Dee Keeley, Group HR Manager says ' We see customer service training as absolutely crucial to helping us achieve and keep the edge we want in the marketplace.

' We opted for Welcome to Excellence because it is an established programme and it is also constantly being refreshed and developed. Welcome to Excellence was also cost effective, compared to the other options we considered. What's more, the programme can be delivered in-house by our own team, something we think is very important to keep the momentum going.'

For Centre Island, being able to train and support their own in-house trainer through Welcome to Excellence was an essential part of the appeal. 'It gives us complete flexibility' says Dee 'It means that the trainers can tailor the courses to make them completely relevant to our business and also makes it simple to run the courses frequently. We run a training programme every two months in each of our nine hotels.'

Mike Williamson says 'We believe passionately in the value of customer service training and are actively involved in assisting with customer service training for the Capital of Culture in Merseyside in 2008. We are delighted that subsidised Welcome to Excellence training is available in the North West, with approximately 50% of the funding from the North West Development Agency.'

Looking to the future, Welcome to Excellence is set to introduce a stream of new courses over the coming years as well as refresh the existing courses.

Sue Gill of The Regional Tourist Board Partnerships Ltd says 'With the Olympics and Paralympics Games in London in 2012, The eyes of the world will be on the UK and the event will interface with all parts of the UK's customer management and service offering. There has never been a more important time for all businesses to raise the bar when it comes to customer service training. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us all to aim to set new world class standards'

Mike Wilkinson is confident about ambitions for the North West.

He concludes 'We have a great and long tradition of hospitality in the North West of England and through building on that heritage through consistent improvement and customer service training, we can ensure that our businesses continue to lead the way and increase their competitiveness, providing standards of customer service that are second to none.'

The forum lifecycle and those who monitor them

Online forums thrive on the idea of a free exchange of thought. If your business provides a forum you are making it possible for people around the globe to share their ideas and perspectives.

Because a single perspective may be at odds with another divergent idea the employment of one or more moderators is vital. This does not mean that the business owner must moderate it, but they can either hire a freelance moderator or they can accept a volunteer moderator from their membership list.

Forums can and occasionally do get heated with two or more individuals posting material that may be considered inflammatory or simply designed to ruffle feathers. This is where the moderator comes in.

Rules should be posted and pinned (stickied) to the top of your forum categories. These rules should be prominent with strong encouragement to read and abide by them. Failure to follow the guidelines could result in either the suspension or banning of a user in violation of the rules.

Obviously this action is taken as a last resort, but sometimes it is very difficult to rein certain forum members in.

The moderator should use both caution and wisdom in making a decision about the status of a forum member who violates the rules.

Posts that attack a person should be dealt with quickly and, in some cases, should be removed.

Not everyone who signs up for your forum will stay indefinitely. You may even have some members who will sign up look around and never post. Other member can best be described as lurkers. These members are content to read other posts, but rarely provide their own feedback. This may be a matter of comfort or a simple desire to learn what they can without becoming overly involved in a community such as a forum.

The third group of members will likely be the smallest percentage of participants. These members will be active and will spend a significant amount of time with the forum and will respond when others have a question or comment. It is typically from this small pool that you may find your volunteer moderators.

You should also know there is a certain lifecycle to forums. You may find a burst of participation from a core group of members that can last several months, but little by little these cyber veterans drop by less and less while new recruits take their place. An established forum will change dynamics multiple times over its existence. This is normal and is to be expected. You may also find there may be a need to replace your moderators from time to time especially if they are volunteer. Their interest may decrease over time or their circumstances might change – always make it easy for them to pursue a new life dynamic by leaving them in the driver’s seat when it comes to the length of their involvement.

Don’t spend too much time lamenting the changing dynamic because it means you are gaining new interest in your forum and, by proxy, your products or services.

Forums provide an excellent opportunity to reach out to consumers, but it’s always in a state of flux. Allow your forum to roll with the punches.

Real world advice for choosing a modeling agency

Choosing a modeling agency is the most important decision a new model will make when embarking on a career in the modeling industry. The agency that a model decides to sign with will basically become a second family. Therefore, it is vital for the aspiring model to meet everyone on the “team” and be certain that everyone has the same career goals in mind from the beginning.

One of the toughest challenges a new model will face is weeding their way through the thousands of agencies out there in order to find the ones they “click” with. Many of the lesser known, a. k.a. rip-off agencies, offer potential models free portfolios or comp cards for signing with their agency. Keep in mind that, one should never pay to sign with a company, and rarely is anything ever free of charge, especially at the beginning of a career. Read the fine print of every contract. Usually a “catch” can be found when it comes to these types of offers.

Since the question of finding a quality company to work with is so important, how does the new model decide which ones are good and which ones should be avoided. Finding a quality modeling agency is the single most important step to becoming a successful model. Any model, no matter how beautiful, without a team of agents that are excited to be working with them, is doomed to mediocrity from day one. The fact is that top clients like Calvin Klein, D-Squared, Armani, Guess, DKNY, skincare companies, and the like, will only deal with certain agencies. Unless you are represented by these agencies, don’t plan on ever seeing yourself on billboards or getting mainstream magazine exposure.

The goal of every new model wanting to really succeed should be first to sign with an agency in one of the fashion capitols: Milan, London, New York, or Paris. Being represented by these agencies early on makes it infinitely easier to establish a global network of credible companies to work with throughout your career. Signing early on with a modeling agency that has a solid background and name recognition within the industry is a must as a foundation for any career.

For models living in or near one of these major modeling centers, open calls are the best way to get noticed and ultimately signed. For those who are not living in close proximity to any of these cities, there are ways to get your picture in front of the agents without traveling, and without spending a fortune on professional photography. Did you know that you can submit your pictures to agencies worldwide using a digital camera and never even leave your home? You just need the right contact information.

Submitting photos to a big modeling agency in top fashion locations can be intimidating for new models if they don’t know exactly what they are doing. Models often wonder what they should include in their portfolio and in what order to present pictures so as to make their book stand out from the crowd. Learn how to present your pictures and personality in a way that will have even the biggest clients looking twice. Ever wondered how you can get noticed before you even have a portfolio? These are just a few of the questions that all new models should know the answers to before: A) Spending a single dime on professional photography, and B) Before moving forward and approaching agencies. The fact is that if you know how to approach large agencies correctly you have a much better chance of getting a contract offer.

The answers to these questions and many more regarding the modeling industry can be found in the best-selling new e-book, The Model’s Bible. Written by international supermodel Caleb Lane. In his book, Caleb shares his real-world experience that stems from working in the fashion capitols of the world over the past 10 years. Caleb has worked with top clients like Calvin Klein, D&G, Kenneth Cole, Armani, Guess, Vogue, GQ, and many more. Visit modeling-success. com and instantly download everything that you need to know in order to get your career as a model jump-started and headed the right way!

Business - closing the sale is easy if you know when to shut up

Business is all about sales, customer satisfaction and profits. The biggest problem that new entrepreneurs encounter is how does one close the sale?

I have trained people in my sales force and the biggest mistake that they made was not to know when to shut up! Let us say you are in the middle of a presentation and you start seeing buying signals. Stop right there and ask for the business. You do not always need to do the full spiel.

Overselling once you have a clear buying signal leads to more failure in closing the sale then any other mistake that beginners make. If you reach this point then stop selling and start quantifying delivery schedules and payment terms.

When the customer is filling in your order form, stop chit chatting until they have filled it completely and signed it. Then carefully take their order, put it in your briefcase, smile, say your good byes and leave for your next appointment.

Another idea to help beginners in closing the sale is to work on their presentation. If they have quantified precisely what they are selling and have dealt with possible objections in the presentation, then when they finally meet the customer to do "the business" the close will be a lot easier.

One excuse a sales person will often encounter is that the buyer does not have all the details at hand to complete the order form. Rather then leaving without the order form perhaps it is better to get it signed and take it away with you. You can always fill in the blanks on the phone.

If you feel that the customer is slightly hesitant to buy but does like the idea, then a free trial often works wonders. Why do you think that many internet sites offer the first month for free with payment starting in month two?

Many people mistakenly believe that there is some sort of magic involved in being a great sales person. Most of what a great sales person does is just basic common sense. A carefully crafted presentation to an interested customer, followed by watching the client carefully for buying signals and then following these with a simple close is all it takes.

Seo - increasing web presence by developing web content

One way to spread the word about your website or blog is to offer amusing and entertaining content to other sites. Other sites love free content that has bells and whistles or a useful function of some kin. There are several ways to do this. All it takes is a little creativity and some programming knowledge to create a piece of code that allows others to paste an object that relates to your site.

This piece of code could be any kind of Internet knick-knack. It could be a horoscope, a short poll or a guessing game. It could be a calendar, a list keeper or some kind of puzzle or word generator. The possibilities are endless. Just be sure whatever it is that you invent that it is something that your readers will want. For instance if you are writing a blog about astrology you might want to provide them with a piece of code that displays their daily horoscope. If you are doing a dating blog you might want to post a piece of code that generates a yes/no response from the reader such as “Who should phone back first after sex – a man or a woman?”

People also like free clip art. If you have the ability to create clip art or provide a clip art library (that relates to your theme of course) to individuals then you will be sure to attract more traffic to your blog. This helps get your name out there so that it is associated with creativity and unique resources.

A really good example of this type of content in action is at faзade. com, which offers a full-fledged tarot, rune, numerology and celebrity horoscope reading scheme as a free program that can be placed on other sites. The reason it is being cited as an example here is because it is so glitzy, full of bells and whistles and also very popular.

Wikipedia and the nofollow controversy

If you are not involved in the search engine optimization community, January 21st, 2007 probably held no significance for you. However, if you are a search engine marketer or SEO, you probably remember January 21st as the day that Wikipedia died. To the untrained eye, Wikipedia is exactly the same today as it was six months ago. But, once you dig below the surface and take a look, you can see one difference that has had an impact on the world of search engine optimization: NOFOLLOW.

In the words of Matt Cutts, "rel="nofollow" attribute is an easy way for a web site to tell search engines that the web site can’t or doesn’t want to vouch for a link." Before January 21st, NOFOLLOW was mainly used for blog comments. This helped blog owners cut down on comment spam. NOFOLLOW was also used in some situations to denote a paid link, but this is a whole other controversy that will have to be saved for a different article.

The reason that Wikipedia’s adoption of NOFOLLOW on every single outgoing link caused such a stir is because many people viewed it as the most hypocritical decision that Wikipedia could have made. The reason that Wikipedia has become so popular and performs so well in the SERPs is that bloggers and web site owners commonly reference Wikipedia. When they do this, they provide a link back to Wikipedia. Every time that this process occurs, Wikipedia gains a little more popularity in the search engines. When Wikipedia decided to implement the NOFOLLOW tag, they are telling the search engines that although we reference a web site and may use content from it in our article, we do not want you to give it any credit. It is for this reason that many have started to view Wikipedia as a massive hypocrisy.

Although NOFOLLOW has probably cut down on the amount of spam Wikipedia has to combat, but as many others have stated, Wikipedia could have chosen a different method for fighting spam that did not punish quality web sites which deserve to be recognized by Wikipedia.

Marketing websites

Mostly everyone online is trying to learn how to start marketing their websites. Marketing websites can seem like a very tough thing to do. Many people have no clue how to market their websites. I think one of the main reasons people have trouble marketing their websites is because of the lack of the right information online currently. Many people are sadly misinformed about how to market their websites correctly. Many people are using marketing techniques which are highly ineffective and may end costing tons of money. Many people trying to make money online are duplicating failure. Many people are heavily marketing to classified ads, FFA's, and other places which do not work at all. I will go over a couple of techniques to effectively start marketing your websites.

First you must decide if you are going to start marketing your websites online or offline. Both ways can be very effective and I would suggest using both. Offline marketing can tend to be a little more costly, so you will need some money to effectively start marketing your websites. One way to market your website offline is to buy drop cards. Drop cards are effective because you can drop them practically anywhere. Making a trip to the supermarket, drop a card. Making a trip to the bank, drop a card. Simple. Another way to effectively market offline is to buy ad space in major newspapers and major magazines. This can be very pricey, but it is also very effective. Offline marketing is often ignored but I would not suggest it. Offline marketing can be a powerful way for you to market your websites.

Online marketing can actually be very simple. In order for you to start marketing your websites effectively, you must be consistent and work these techniques daily. For instance writing articles and press releases can be a very effective, but you must write consistently. If you do not write consistently using articles and press releases to market your websites will not work. Writing one or two articles a month will not bring you the type of traffic you are looking for. In order to be truly effective with articles and press releases you must at least write one or two a week. The great thing about writing articles and press releases is it is completely free. You can write as many articles and press releases as you want and they will bring you great results. Remember the key to writing articles and press releases is to write them consistently. Another way to effectively market your website online is to post useful comments on forums and be sure to add your signature with your link.

The key to marketing your websites effectively is to be consistent in your marketing techniques. Any marketer worth his weight knows you must market on a daily basis in order to be fully effective. It takes at least 7 exposures for the average person to purchase something. When marketing your website being consistent is the name of the game.

Seo - how search engine spiders work

A search engine spider is actually just a server based software application that is designed to compile and maintain search engine databases. They are also known as robots. These applications were nicknamed spiders because they craw the “web” looking for information to add to the search engine’s database.

In theory a search engine spider does it s job by following networks of links to find and then grab information from your web site pages. Each search engine (such as Google, Excite, Alta Vista, Lycos etc.) has its own criteria for how it spiders information. This criterion is put together into a specific algorithm that helps the search engine determine where your site fits in its ranking system. The problem of second guessing search engine spiders is that they are always changing the requirements of this algorithm so web masters are always second guessing how to get their URLs listed in the top web site positions. Also the different search engines have different criteria for how they rank information and might have to do with their database’s needs. One search engine may rank your site in terms of its content and yet another may be more interested in the number of links you have and yet another may be interested in how many hits you are getting.

In theory a search engine spider could do any one of several things when it visits your web page. Some spiders simply confirm the existence of the page without indexing it. Some spiders index the page content. Yet others will identify all of the hyperlinks you have on a page to other web resources and also other pages on your site. A spider may visit your pages once or it may visit it several times.

One of the latest trends is to keep your index pages lively by adding up to 50 to 70 new bytes of information regularly. This is because the Alta Vista pages love fresh content. This is what makes SEO techniques so interesting to follow. The rules change along with the changing needs of the spiders.

Decoding web hosting reviews part i asp to frontpage

:
Web hosts come under many names: ASP Hosting, Cold Fusion Hosting, Java Hosting, PHP Hosting; and as such, so must web hosting reviews. When scouring the various web hosting reviews in print and on the internet to help find the web host that most addresses your specific and unique needs, you’ll come across many of these “names”, these specialized types of web hosting products. Many of them you may not need, but the one or two that you do, you may need a lot. Knowing which types of hosting products you require most will help you review web hosting reviews with a keener (and therefore more efficient, effective, and economical) eye.

If the web hosting review mentions ASP Hosting, it’s referring to Active Server Pages, a technology that resolves a problem HTML-users have in getting their web pages to appear exactly as they intend them to appear on every visitor’s computer. ASP uses something called “server-side scripting” to enable you to create uniform web pages regardless of the web browser your visitors are using.

If the web hosting review mentions Colocation Hosting, it means that you would actually own the hardware the datacenter uses to run your website. With colocation hosting, you physically purchase a server and bring it to the datacenter and install it and maintain it yourself. For less cost than a dedicated server, you get the benefits of a datacenter (connectivity, environmental regulation, security, uninterruptible power) while maintaining 100% control over what your server does and does not do. The caveat: anything you want done, you’ve got to do yourself. Colocation hosting is a DIY (do-it-yourself) situation.

If the web hosting review mentions Cold Fusion Hosting, it refers to database software developed by Macromedia, the same team who brought us Flash and Shockwave. Cold fusion allows web interactivity with your databases, meaning that you can query, index, update, and chart your databases all from your web browser.

If the web hosting review mentions FrontPage Hosting it means you get support and -- most importantly -- server extensions for using Microsoft FrontPage software to create your website. FrontPage lets you create dynamic and interactive websites that you can’t achieve with HTML alone. A FrontPage host (and only a FrontPage host) has FrontPage server extensions enabled, which allows you to bypass using an intermediary FTP client in order to publish your site. FrontPage server extensions give you the power to include hit counters, forms, discussion forums, and search functionality in your website, as well as empowering you with multi-user authoring, and remote authoring and administration for better managing your site.

Keep in mind: a single web hosting provider may very well offer many of these hosting services, and quite likely many others not mentioned here. Check the web hosting reviews you read very carefully to find out which hosting services each web host offers.

See Part II of this article next week to learn about web hosting reviews for Java hosting, MySQL hosting, PHP hosting, SSH hosting, and Windows hosting.

Search engine optimization techniques for changing times

When web masters were unaware of the search engine’s potential in web site promotions, search engine optimization (SEO) was limited to integrating some keywords in the meta tags. Then, those who knew even a little about the impact of search engine queries on page popularity enjoyed unrivaled success in search engine rankings. Those days, getting a good ranking in keyword searches was a breeze and did not require specialized SEO training.

However, the times have changed and search engines now have millions of pages in their indexes. A web master who knows precious little about SEO does not have any hope of competing with others who have SEO techniques down pat. The increasing competition for the top ranks and the proportional rise in experienced SEO professionals mean that any SEO efforts on your part would likely be in vain; unless, that is, you have considerable SEO expertise and a long-term comprehensive search engine optimization plan.

It is a good thing to know what keywords people usually search for and it is just good strategy to aspire to get the highest rank when these keywords are used for search engine queries. Nevertheless, business owners should look beyond rankings, and this awareness that there’s more to web promotion than getting the highest page rank is what is meant by true SEO expertise.

Long-term comprehensive planning is also necessary for optimized search engine results. These days, a web page that has the top spot in keyword searches cannot hope to retain this spot for long. Sooner or later, another page will have this honor. This transition from top ranking to mediocre can happen in one day.

SEO professionals, even the best in this field, cannot perform miracles. They may be able to increase a web page’s ranking for the moment but without a comprehensive plan and long-term business goals, a company will not be able to maximize its SEO gains. The best a short-sighted web master could hope for is perpetually fluctuating page ranking and full-time reliance on outside search engine optimization help.

--- Search engine optimization in its proper context ---

Search engine optimization should be placed in its proper context. Any business’ goal should be increased web sales rather than increased page rankings. It should be understood that high page rank is just a strategy to increase web traffic. That’s the whole extent of its usefulness. If no efforts are made to gain more sales, high page ranking doesn’t mean anything.

To generate more sales and increase conversion of web traffic into buyers, there are other areas that a web master should focus on. A web master’s priority should be the web site itself. After a visitor clicks on the web site, he or she must be persuaded to make a purchase or to avail of the services offered.

--- Good web site content and SEO ---

Keywords should be incorporated in the web content; this is just good SEO technique. But the keyword need not be the usual. There are more than a few keywords that users use to search for products, services or information. A good web master will be aware of these keywords and will put them into good use.

However, content should not be all about keywords. Good content is unique, informative and accurate content, not text that uses the same keywords again and again that the reader just has to give up in exasperation. Grammar and spelling rules should be observed and good taste should be prevalent all through out the page. A high page rank does not compensate for sales opportunities lost due to bad, unoriginal and repetitive content.

Buying newborn clothing that is cute but also comfortable

Shopping for newborn clothing is often done even before your baby arrives. This poses a few problems, as sometimes parents are not sure whether the baby will be a boy or a girl. Everyone wants to see the new baby, and you want to make her look cute, but at the same time keep her comfortable. Even more, you cannot be quite sure if you will have a big baby or a little one.

These points make buying garments for a new baby quite challenging. Because many people do not know whether they are expecting a boy or a girl, there are unisex garments for babies available. These are usually in neutral colors like pastel yellow, green or white.

Be practical when buying newborn clothing. Remember that you or your spouse will be changing a lot of diapers. Be sure the crotch of every garment you buy has snaps to pop open for this purpose. You do not want to have a major undress each time you need to change your baby. Also remember that babies can be very messy. Blow outs and spit ups happen without warning and often at the worst times. This means that you should always have extra garments on hand when you travel. This will necessitate buying more items than you may have expected, so keep a decent sized budget for purchasing baby garments.

Always try to buy for comfort as well as style. Remember babies need room to wriggle around after the first week or so and are eager to throw their legs and arms in the air as they explore what they can do. Make sure you buy garments that are big enough, 3-6 months is wise with just a few items in the 0-3 month range. This will cover the size dilemma if you are buying ahead of time.

Newborn clothing should not be tight or constricting, but at the same time should keep baby warm. Footed sleepers are ideal for very young babies as they cover everything but still leave plenty of room for movement. Always try to make sure garments have snaps at the crotch and down one leg for easy changing. Another alternative is a full zipper down the front for even more convenience. Be sure all fastenings are comfortable for your baby and secured tightly to the garment.

Gift certificates are also available if you are buying for a relative or friend and do not really know what the recipient might like. Rather than be disappointed and embarrassed, it is sometimes best to give a gift certificate instead of the product. This means that your recipient can easily go online themselves and get the exact garments they want. This will save you a lot of hassles with returns and having to reselect the items.

At webclothes. com you will experience all the convenience of shopping online rather than having to go out to brave the malls. WebClothes provides a wide variety of styles and colors for newborn clothing to choose from. They also feature a special unisex section, which is ideal for both girls and boys. Your baby will look cute and still stay comfortable with a variety of easy to wear styles. This makes shopping for baby more enjoyable than ever.

Adsense or authority site

There was recently a clash of the gurus over whether or not AdSense is dead. You probably got all the emails too. No, I haven’t bought anything from these emails; I just wanted to comment on the idea that AdSense sites are dead.

First of all, you have to define what constitutes an AdSense site. As I see it, there are several types. Some the search engines are working on killing; others will continue to work just fine.

Search engines are trying hard to drop the auto generated junk sites, or scrapers. While they can get rankings for a short time, they are very prone to being dropped completely. You can make these and might even earn money off them, but you will have to keep making more to keep up your income, and they are likely to disappear faster and faster.

Premade AdSense sites are a mixed bag. The trouble is that many people may buy and put up the same site. How the sites are made can in part determine their success or failure.

Sites made exclusively with articles from article sites have the advantage that every person will choose different articles and the disadvantage that some articles will be on an amazing number of sites.

Private label articles have similar advantages and disadvantages, although grouped articles are more prone to all being on individual sites, making entire sites more likely to match.

However, private label articles also have the advantage that you can modify the articles themselves freely. Anything from changing a few words to adding or deleting sentences to complete rewrites is acceptable.

Authority sites are built to be highly informative for the visitor, in a format that is highly usable. They’re dynamic, so the search engines and your users always have something new to read.

Honestly, I don’t see authority sites as anything new - just a repackaging of one way to build AdSense sites. They’re simply a reminder that no matter where you get your content, you need to think of your users as well as the search engines in order for your site to last a long time and earn good money.

What kinds of sites do I think will last? I don’t care what name you call them by, but sites that give visitors what they want are always the best. This means you will probably need to go dynamic at least a little, so that your information is more up to date, and you will need to keep an eye on what brings in the most visitors, so that you can make more interesting pages for them.

Any site can survive, even if it is not dynamic, if it has what your visitors want. That includes private label article sites and sites built with articles from article sites. When you build a site, stop to think about what will be useful and last a long time, rather than just what will be fast to build. You’ll do a lot for your business if you plan for the long term.

Turn your small business into a limited liability company

More entrepreneurs today are taking steps to protect personal assets and take advantage of a flexible tax structure by forming a Limited Liability Company or LLC.

A Limited Liability Company is a legal form of Business Company granted in the United States offering limited liability to its owners. It is similar to a corporation, but a more flexible form of ownership, more suitable for smaller businesses with a limited number of employees or owners.

For new business owners a Limited Liability Company can be an attractive solution to forming a company especially considering the many benefits to having an LLC. For starters, having a LLC involves maintaining much less paperwork and recordkeeping as a corporation would have.

Many of the primary benefits consist of the various ways you can set up taxation. For many business taxes alone can be a complicated subject matter. As an individual owner you can decide how you wish your taxes to be applied.

For instance, a LLC can elect to be taxed as a sole proprietor, partnership, S-corp or corporation, providing much flexibility. Also using the default tax classification, profits are taxed personally at the member level, not at the LLC level. Consultation by a professional legal service can be vital to identifying the best option for your business.

LLC’s also provide some of the same protections that corporations have for protecting the owners and members from liabilities and debts of the LLC. If your business should ever face insolvency your personal assets would be protected.

Yet there are still some vital rules to keep in mind when running a Limited Liability Company. Proper management of your company financials is important. It is crucial to keep the business and affairs of the LLC separate from members or manager’s personal affairs. This means establishing a separate bank account, and maintaining separate records from the LLC.

It only takes one person to form a Limited Liability Company. You can prepare the legal paperwork and file it yourself, or use a professional legal service. The prices to forming a LLC can vary depending on the state which will charge some type of annual fee to maintain an LLC.

A Limited Liability Company also has an unlimited lifespan and ownership can be transferred to any person you wish.

If you haven’t already discovered what a LLC can do for you and your business there a number of available resources online you can explore. A lot of time and effort goes into developing a business and having the proper business structure can be critical for success.
