Player profile isabelle mercier

Isabelle “No Mercy” Mercier was born in Montreal, Canada on August 5, 1975. However, she states that she currently lives out of her suitcase in hotel rooms all over the world. Isabelle travels twelve months a year and enjoys the constant changes in residence as she does not like when her life falls into a predictable pattern.

Even though she has been “playing poker all her life”, she states she has been a professional for a little over two years. Her original career plans did not involve card playing since she completed a degree in law at the age of 24, spent one year working as a lawyer and then moved to Paris to study International Law at the prestigious Sorbonne.

Since she had experience as a dealer in Montreal, she decided to work nights in a casino in Paris. Her prior experience, circumstances and her knowledge of the English language got her a fast promotion to manager of the Aviation Club de France poker room and her career in law fell by the wayside. Mercier remained at the Paris poker room for four years and then moved on to Las Vegas to learn poker.

Isabelle Mercier is single, has no children and believes in pursuing her dreams. Her plan is to play in as many Tournaments and win as many titles as possible. Mercier states that the money she wins is not significant because she spends as much as she earns.

In one of her interviews, she says that if friends and sponsors did not pay her buy-ins, she would not play. She also says that she does not receive all the money she wins because of having to pay back those who have staked her.

How Mercier got the nickname “No Mercy”: When she won the World Poker Tour Ladies’ Night Tournament $25,000 first prize in 2004, this nickname was bestowed upon her by player Mike Sexton due to her tenacious style of playing.

Her favorite game is No Limit Hold’em. However, she enjoys Hold’em in all variations.

Some of her most recent poker results:

- The French Open – EPT/Pokerstars Season 2 No Limit Hold’em – 7th place - $79,686
